Proofreading

PROOFREADING SERVICES

Proofreading is the final step in the editing process—completed after developmental editing and copy editing. At this stage, your manuscript should already be fully revised, structured, and polished. Proofreading is about catching the last small details before publication.

What I Offer:

I carefully review your manuscript to correct:

  • Spelling errors
  • Grammar and punctuation mistakes
  • Typos and missing words
  • Inconsistent formatting (spacing, italics, capitalization, etc.)
  • Minor inconsistencies in wording or clarity

This is a light, detail-focused edit. No major rewrites or structural changes are made at this stage.

Pricing is 0.016 USD per word:

Word CountPrice (USD)
5,000 words$80
10,000 words$160
20,000 words$320
40,000 words$640
60,000 words$960
80,000 words$1,280
100,000 words$1,600

What You'll Get:

 After proofreading, you’ll get:

✔ A Track Changes version showing all corrections made
✔ A clean, final copy ready for publishing or formatting

This allows you to review edits easily while also having a polished version you can use right away.

Is Your Manuscript Ready for Proofreading?

Your book is ready for proofreading if:

  • You’ve completed all revisions and edits
  • You’re happy with the story, structure, and wording
  • You’re preparing for publication (self-publishing or querying)

If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to help you determine the best stage for your manuscript.

The Style Sheet (or Style Guide)

A style sheet is a document that ensures consistency throughout your book. It may include:

  • Spelling preferences (e.g., American vs. British English)
  • Punctuation and grammar choices
  • Capitalization rules
  • Character names, place names, and world-specific terms

For fiction authors, this can also act as a “story bible,” keeping track of important details to maintain continuity.

If you already have a style sheet, I’ll follow it closely. If not, I will create a light style sheet as I proofread to ensure consistency across your manuscript.

Why This Matters

Proofreading isn’t just about fixing typos—it’s about respecting your voice and maintaining consistency. Clear guidance through a brief and style sheet ensures your manuscript is polished without losing what makes it yours.
